Work hardNov 20 2004Unknown
Work hard. No, harder than that. Write good essays, get good standardized test scores (I know, they are arbitrary and ultimately meaningless, but they are still the rubric). Be active in HS. Successful applicants and students here are not just academic machines; they are locally and globally aware and involved. There is no one catch all application that is guaranteed to get you in. Just work hard and be passionate about what you do, that's the best advice I can give.

As far as getting in, I was a transferNov 14 2004Economics
As far as getting in, I was a transfer. W&M has a feeder school called Richard Bland College of W&M. If you get a 3.0 over 45 hours and earn your AS/AA/AB, you get a free pass in. So if you don't get in by regular admissions, there is always the back door.

I had good scores, good grades, and good recommendationsNov 13 2004Computer Science
I had good scores, good grades, and good recommendations. My credentials were thought to be ivy-type quality. I was out of state, so these are generally the normal qualifications of out of staters. Don't expect scholarship money from W&M.
SAT: 1490 Male

Write a FANTASTIC essay, have a FANTASTIC GPA, and have FANTASTIC connections and extracuriculars. For me, three out of four did it.
